Dev’s Bioenergetics Newsletter – November 2020
Okay, so here goes with another monthly newsletter. I want to try and keep them up.
Well, I’m getting ready for the new lockdown, about to happen Thursday. Waitrose is out of toilet paper already, a sure sign that it’s coming. I got a haircut. I’m buying some socks today. Then I should be all set. I’ve not found this one as triggering as the one back in March, to be honest. I’m starting to surrender to the process that we all seem to be involved in, and seeing how I can be of service is however society re-emerges from the shadow of this virus.
I still get phases of quite strong emotional reaction. This morning, up early to do some Bio in my front room, I could feel my “inner anarchist” once again active. That part of me that I thought I’d burned through 3 decades ago in years of squatting and punkdom. Dreaming of civilisation collapsing and us returning to some kind of Mad Max-like existence on the streets. Now I’m back being an adult and doing my allotted tasks.
I started on Part 2 last week – Training Your Body for Success – and have set myself a target of 500 words a day, Monday to Friday. When I did my novel, back in 2016, it was 1000 words a day, 7 days a week. That was intense. This feels more leisurely
What always amazes me about writing books is that, if I just do it, it happens. I sit down and tell my mind, “Okay, now you’re going to write.” Sometimes it’s hard to find direction. Or I feel like I’m drifting off on a tangent. Sometimes I’m reading through endlessly and trying to work out the deeper thread of what I’m trying to convey. Sometimes it’s just flowing out of me. But if I just sit there, eventually it does come. And I do get weekends off.
I’m writing about drive right now, and enjoying the subject. I feel like I’m learning stuff too. Next up, about the container. Stuff from Alchemy and Reich.
So, Part 2 – The Bioenergetics Facilitator Training – is now up and running. All done! Insurance and accreditation have been sorted out, to give the training a deeper legitimacy. You will now see the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM) logo appearing on the bioenergetics.org.uk website. I’m amazed it’s been done so quick. Now I’m creating content, like with The Journey, on a weekly basis. I’m expecting the first people to join, once they graduate from The Journey, at the end of the year.

School of Bioenergetics
I’ve registered the name “The British School of Bioenergetics” as intellectual property (trademark). Completion certificates from the Bioenergetics courses will now be issued by the school. I’m planning to turn the bioenergetics.org.uk website slowly into a hub for the school, allowing people who are trained to offer sessions to those who want them.
Well, I managed to run 2 workshops here in Brighton before the latest lockdown was announced. Both were full and lovely to run. Thank you to those who attended. Now I’ll have to wait till we reopen to continue.
Other Bioenergetics News
- If you’re a fan of Steven Kessler’s work, and especially his excellent book on Characterology, then you’ll be happy to learn that an audiobook version will soon be available.
Okay, that’s it from me. I hope you’ve appreciated this update and feel free to reply. Do let me know if you have any news about Bioenergetics that you’d like to be included in the next newsletter.
With love and best wishes
